Every Tuesday Vincent Massey Public School teacher, Laran Ball, has dedicated the last period of the day for Land Based Learning. He has taught students about rabbit snaring, and they have created individual rabbit snares.  Students are also shown the proper way to give thanks to Mother Earth.  They talk about Fireweed, Nettles, Hyssop, and other edible sources of food/medicine that our province has to offer while keeping sustainability in mind.  Incorporating this, and having cultural content in daily/weekly lessons, is proving to help students succeed.
