A unique learning experience brought the Native Studies 20 class from Debden Public School and students from North West College together. Under the guidance of lead artist Leah Marie Dorion and Elder and Traditional Knowledge Keeper Gladys Wapass-Greyeyes from Thunderchild First Nation, the students created collaborative murals telling the story of reconciliation within the Treaty 6 region. The purpose of the project was to create public awareness of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, specifically focusing on Education and Education for Reconciliation. We are honored to have been invited as partners in this project. As Elder Gladys emphasized ‘We are all beautiful flowers on this earth. Our roots share the same soil and this project is the beginning of our journey together as we repair and establish relationships based on mutual respect and understanding.”
