On October 14, 2016 Wild Rose School held its annual Walk-a-thon and community pancake breakfast. This is the school’s major fundraiser to cover costs for the various events that the students take part in throughout the year. In order to build excitement, the teachers and educational assistants all create incentives for the school, based on how much money is brought in. This year, the excitement was ramped up, as Mr. Graham McGregor, the principal of the school, promised to do a polar dive in Sturgeon Lake if the school was able to raise $10,000.00. The student body exceeded his expectations, and with the help of Scotiabank, Wild Rose School brought in over $15,000.00! Mr. McGregor held up his promise, and on Nov. 1, 2017 with an outside temperature of -1 degrees Celsius, he took the plunge!
