Intended Audience:

 

Land-Based Learning Teachers, Phys-Ed Teachers, In School Coaches (DC/LST), Grade 4-9 Classroom Teachers

 

Purpose: “Traditional Games” offers an engaging workshop suitable for adult educators, community leaders, and enthusiasts eager to explore.  Participants delve into not just the mechanics and crafting of games but also their cultural significance and teachings.  With over 16 years of experience, Lamarr brings his expertise, sharing insights into over 100 traditional games, fostering laughter and deep learning.  Originating as a means for survival, these games now play a crucial role in cultural preservation and resilience.

 

Learning Intentions:

Participants will be exposed to multiple traditional Indigenous games, learn how to play and facilitate them and learn any important teachings that correspond with them.

 

Success Criteria:

Participants will leave with ideas of how to incorporate traditional Indigenous games into their own classroom or school settings.
