THEME:  WORKING AND LEARNING TOGETHER

Osborne Public School

This week, Osborne Public School has had mystery guest readers visit our classrooms.  On Wednesday, Matt Sawatzky, a Chef and the General Manager of the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club, came with an extra surprise.  After reading the book, “I’ll Be a Chef”, he taught the students how to make kabobs and spoke about his job.  This was a great opportunity for our students to both work with and learn from a member of our community.

John Diefenbaker Public School

To celebrate education week and early literacy awareness, John Diefenbaker Public School hosted a “Welcome to Kindergarten” family event.  Welcome to Kindergarten is a national program provided by The Learning Partnership and other sponsors.  Welcome to Kindergarten emphasizes that parents are a child’s first teacher and promotes strong partnerships for the benefit of all learners. Over the past couple of years, SRPSD partnered with KidsFirst to provide family literacy evenings in various schools throughout our division.
