Westview Public School is thrilled to be one of the 10 schools in Saskatchewan that will be receiving a $10,000 grant to support student nutrition after being selected to win this year’s Mosaic School Nutrition Challenge.
Westview’s project titled, Pe micisok Kistahpinanihk (pronounced pay/meet/sok kis/ta/pin/aaa/neek) which translates to “You all come eat at the meeting place”, focuses on growing our student knowledge base about the benefits of gardening and composting, as well as the overall health benefits of healthy food choices.
A few of our project highlights include: updating kitchen appliances, adding an indoor garden tower in two classrooms, implementing a school wide composting system, and a Truth & Reconciliation project which includes growing traditional medicines.
Our Westview School family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mosaic and SSBA for selecting Westview as one of the recipients of the Mosaic School Nutrition Challenge.
