Wesmor Public High School was chosen for the WestJet Experience to attend WE Day Manitoba in Winnipeg. Each year, WestJet provides flights and hotels for schools in provinces and territories without WE Day to attend a WE Day in another province. Wesmor Public High School was chosen due to the school’s commitment to making the world a better place through the WE School initiative. Nine students were chosen for their volunteerism, leadership, and positive actions in the school to travel to Winnipeg.
On a blustery October 29 morning, the students headed out at 5:20am to catch their flight to Winnipeg, a first flight for most. Upon arrival in Winnipeg, they were greeted by representatives from WE Schools and went for a pizza party and planning session with students from St. James Collegiate. Afterwards, they were able to have a tour at the Canadian Human Rights Museum – a must-see for anyone who goes to Winnipeg.
On October 29, the students headed to WE Day Manitoba! An amazing experience with speakers such as Craig Keilburger, George Takei, Emilio Estevez and Jordin TooToo with performances by Elijah Woods X Jamie Fine, Neon Dreams and others. The students were even lucky enough to meet Sarain Fox and have their photo taken with her!
After an inspiring day, it was off to the airport to fly home. An amazing experience! The students were true ambassadors for Wesmor Public High School, Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division and Saskatchewan.
