W.P. Sandin celebrates Education Week with a visit and presentation from author Mary Harelkin Bishop to our Grade 8 class and the Senior Book Club.  Mary has lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, since she was 12 years old and was a teacher librarian within the Saskatoon Public Schools.  Writing has always been a very important aspect in her life and she already knew she was a writer at the age of nine.

Her first published book was Tunnels of Time: A Moose Jaw Adventure in 2000. This was followed by Tunnels of Terror: Another Moose Jaw Adventure, Tunnels of Treachery: A Third Moose Jaw Adventure, Tunnels of Tyranny: A Fourth Moose Jaw Adventure, and the fifth book in the series, Next Stop – Chicago. Mary has also authored Seeds of Hope: A Prairie Story, Moving Forward: The Journey of Paralympian Colette Bourgonje, Mistasiniy: Buffalo Rubbing Stone and Gina’s Wheel.

Mary has had a few poems and a short story published in local publications as well.   In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends walking, biking, skating and skiing. Reading and writing are her passions in life.

Thank you Mary for sharing as we continue to encourage our students to build a brighter future.
