Congratulations to T.D. Michel Public School for their contribution to the Terry Fox Run and for ranking #15 in the Top 50 Fundraising Schools in Saskatchewan for 2020.  For the small rural school of 130, this is a very impressive achievement.  Since 2018, T.D. Michel has taken part in the Terry Fox Walk/Run.  They have raised money in the traditional way of pledges.  Staff and students decided that the pandemic was not going to take away the opportunity to raise money for a very important cause.  This year, all pledges were collected online, and students fulfilled their commitment by walking/running in the name of a loved one. T.D. Michel Public School is very proud!

Wynter Philip, Schools and Community Coordinator for The Terry Fox Foundation, wrote:

“In 1980, Terry Fox set out on a mission to transform his dream, to find a cure for cancer, into reality. Terry never faltered in his determination and perseverance, and we are honoured to see the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division students, staff and community bring the same strength and spirit to this fight 40 years later.

It is during the most difficult of times that we see the human spirit shine and 6 schools in the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division shone brightly in 2020 raising an incredible $5,644.40 for cancer research. We are so honoured to know that our Terry Fox schools support Terry’s mission of finding a cure for cancer come rain or shine.”

We salute all SRPSD schools who supported the Terry Fox Run.  Great job!
