SRPSD grade 9 students at Wesmor chose to cover the Creative Productive outcome (CP9.11 Select and use appropriate forms, technologies, images and art making processes to convey ideas about a topic of concern to youth) in a way that demonstrated research,  collaboration, dedication and kindness.

The students decided to fundraise after researching a local story from PA now.  Second Chance for Sookie.  Sookie the great Pyrenees had been trapped in an illegal trap for four days and will have to have a prosthetic paw made for her because of her size.  The students researched, made art posters, brainstormed fundraising activities, made  and sold goodies and popcorn to staff and students at Wesmor.

Sookie’s owner was so touched by the students act of kindness that she brought her by the school to meet the students.  The Grade 9 students presented the owner with the money they raised through the bake sale (126.55) to help with Sookie’s recovery.

The students fell in love with her at first sight.  There were lots of smiles and tears.
