In the spring of 2019, Queen Mary’s grade 7/8 students, led by Mr. Bates, had the honor of being involved in an Indigenous Mural Project in conjunction with the Prince Albert Historical Society. After consultation with Metis Knowledge Keepers, the idea was developed to involve the community and Indigenous artists to create a mural. Queen Mary students worked alongside Leah Dorian and Kevin Pee-Ace to construct murals of First Nations and Metis culture, which was later recognized and awarded Runner-Up for the Governor General’s Award. The mural is currently displayed at the Prince Albert Museum.
