Mrs Parenteau’s Grade 1 class participated in Operation Christmas Child. This program is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. Operation Christmas Child sends gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world.  We connected this to the Grade 1 Social Studies curriculum in our Needs versus Wants unit. Our classroom goal was to fill 10 boxes; 5 for a girl and 5 for a boy for children aged 5-9 as that is the same age as the Grade 1’s which helped make a concrete connection of the child they were packing the shoeboxes for. Well the Grade 1’s surpassed their goal by filling 25 boxes! Way to go, Grade 1’s!
Mrs. Campbell’s Grade 4 students are taking part in a project whereby they are working together with staff at Herb Bassett Care Home in Prince Albert.  Students from the school and residents from the home meet up at the NRRC Arena to do some skating and visiting.  The student and residents shared a meal of burgers and fries after their time on the ice as one of several meetings they will have this winter.  The Grade 4s will also take the opportunity to travel to the Herb Bassett Home later this winter to visit with the residents there as well.  Thank you to the NRRC Arena board for continuing to support our student’s use of the arena through the winter and also the organizers from Herb Bassett for allowing this great experience to happen for students and residents alike.
