During these sessions\, we will co-create a unit. By participating in this PD\, you will be expected to teach the land-based unit that we develop together. \nWhat to Expect: \n\nGrade Level: The co-created unit will be designed for Grade 8 or Environmental Science 20.\n\n  \nTopics Covered: \nTreaties \nIndigenous governance \nEnvironmental stewardship and equity \nCurrent examples of environmental threats\, such as the harvesting of peat moss in La Ronge. \n  \nKey Features: \nThe unit will include: \nShared resources \nExperiential play based learning (EPBL) \nLand-based learning opportunities \nYou will be expected to teach the unit between the offering of the two PD sessions\, following the prescribed timeline. Over the course of their two-day workshop\, ASIST participants learn to: \n·         Understand the ways that personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions. \n·         Provide guidance and suicide first aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs. \n·         Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it. \n·         Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large. \n  \nCriteria:  \nASIST is an interactive workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to improve skills and readiness to reach in and start a conversation with a person that may have thoughts of suicide. Join us for a unique experience that integrates the medicine wheel and sensory activities. \nImmerse yourself in creating a personalized pointillism rock while enjoying rosehip tea on the fire\, harvesting sage and rocks\, and the soothing sounds of traditional flute and drumming music.
