SUMMARY:Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Assessment Days\n\n\nMaximum Participants: 10 \n  \n \n\n\n  \n  \n  \nWe have thoughtfully scheduled the assessment days to align with other events across the school division that require substitute teachers. Each assessment day has a designated number of substitutes available\, ensuring that we don’t exceed capacity and cause shortages in schools. \n  \n·        The principal will arrange for substitute teacher(s) on the day(s) they have registered. \n  \n·        The principal informs their secretary that they have made these bookings so that the secretary can follow the ‘Entering Time for Additional Sub Teachers & EAs’ document to ensure the sub is paid correctly. \n  \n·        The secretary will enter the Sub time as ‘Extra-No Absent Emp-Curriculum’. \n  \n  \n \n\n\nRegister for: Assessment \n \nClick Here To Register \n  \n \n\n\n  \n*NO leave forms will be completed for Assessment Days. \n

SUMMARY:Dedicating Time
DESCRIPTION:  \nDedicating Time \n(Visual Arts Session)\n              Approved by: \n  \n  \n Jennifer Hingley Superintendent of Schools\n\n\nAttendance: \n☐Expected \n☒Invitation \nNotes:\nSub Covered by: \nPLC Day – No sub required \n  Mileage Covered by Division\nLunch: \n☒On your own \n☐Provided \n \n\n\nDate: August 28\, 2026 \nTime: 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. \nLocation: Carlton (b204) \nFacilitator: Melanie Mirasty \nBring: A yoga mat to sit on\n  \nIntended Audience: High School Visual Arts Teachers \n  \n  \n \n\n\nDedicating Time is a simple arts-based professional development session that combines creativity\, reflection\, and mindfulness. Participants will experience a three-step process that can easily be adapted for classroom use. \nStep 1: Visual Arts Activity \nParticipants will create a simple mixed-media canvas. Using white paint and one additional colour\, they will paint a sky background and add a black power line or tree branch. Small stones will be used to create birds\, which will later represent people or communities that have influenced and supported them. \nStep 2: Sharing Circle (Sharing who their birds are dedicated to) \nOnce the artwork is complete\, participants will take part in a sharing circle and reflect on the people\, relationships\, teachings\, or communities represented by the birds on their canvas. This models a classroom strategy for building connection\, gratitude\, and belonging. \nStep 3: Loving-Kindness Meditation \nThe session will conclude with a guided Loving-Kindness Meditation\, where participants will extend wishes of health\, happiness\, peace\, and well-being to themselves\, their loved ones\, and their communities. \nLearning Outcomes \nParticipants will: \n\nExperience a simple visual arts project that encourages reflection and storytelling.\nLearn how to facilitate a dedication and sharing-circle activity in the classroom.\nExplore a mindfulness practice that promotes gratitude\, compassion\, and community connection.\n\n \n\n\nDeadline for Registration: August 26 – midnight \nMaximum Participants: 25 \nRegister for: Dedicating Time-08-28-2026 \nFor workshop information contact: \nStacey Monette 764-1571\nClick Here To Register \n  \nResources and snacks are based on registration numbers\, you MUST register with the link above.\n\n\n  \nComplete “Request for Leave” Form: \nCurriculum (CURR)
