SUMMARY:Transcription (Printing) LIFTER-Evening Session
DESCRIPTION:Transcription (Printing) \nLIFTER\n  Approved by: \nJennifer Hingley\, Superintendent of Schools\n\n\nAttendance: \n   Expected \nX Invitational \n \nSub Covered by: \n Division \nX Decentralized \n \nLunch: \nX On your own \n Provided \n \n\n\nWho: Dates: \n  \n  \n  \nTime: \nLocation: \nFacilitator(s): \nBring: \n \nGrades K-2 Teachers \nWednesday\, May 20\, 2026 \n  \n4:30-7:30 pm \nEd. Centre – Seminar East \nMichelle Blais-Court & Kristin Bates \nLaptop\n\n\nOverview: \nTranscription skills play a critical role in supporting students’ overall writing development. When students struggle with handwriting or spelling\, much of their mental energy is spent forming letters and recalling how to write words\, leaving fewer cognitive resources available for organizing ideas\, planning\, and composing meaningful text. Strengthening transcription skills through explicit instruction helps students write more fluently and efficiently\, allowing them to focus on higher-level thinking and communication. \nIn this workshop\, participants will learn about the importance of transcription instruction and explore practical ways to incorporate the LIFTER tool into classroom practice. Through explicit instruction in letter identification and formation\, LIFTER helps students strengthen transcription skills that support reading\, writing\, and written expression. \n  \nThis PD falls under the LOU Re: Compensation for School Division Operated Voluntary Professional Development Outside of School Hours During the School Division Calendar year\n\n\nFor workshop information contact:    \nmblais@srsd119.ca or kbates@srsd119.ca or phone 764-1571 \nDeadline for Registration: Two days before each workshop. \nRegistration will only be accepted through online registration \n  \nClick Here To Register \nWorkshop Name: Transcription (Printing) LIFTER \n
